Interior Decorating for Outdoor Benches
Posted on Sunday, November 8, 2009 in Shopping
An outdoor bench isn't only for park use. It can be used indoors. They can be just as nice to sit in, as any upholstered sofa, patio chair, or armchair. For use inside the home, a bench tends to become the main piece inside the room it's going to. It's quite chunky for furniture since most of these benches are made from a combination of sturdy hardwood and cast iron. Since its design alone, places it as uncharacteristic for indoor use, you should downplay this by emphasizing its presence in the room, all the more. You've wanted to feel the great outdoors in your home for the longest time. Now, you have an outdoor bench. What do you do? You place it in your den. A chair like this deserves to be in the middle of the room, no matter its make. Surround it with plant boxes and seedling boxes which have lush clover, delightful sweet pea or other fragrant garden herbs in them. Try this suggestion of plants, only if your room has ample light from the outside. Think of a recreational park and then turn your den into a room that looks like one. Hang something for the birds, by the window. Buy a bird bowl or make one out of papier mache. Making one won't cost you as much as buying a new bird bowl. If your outdoor bench is to go on your porch, then get that Victorian parlor room look with the following suggestions. Set up side tables beside each arm of the bench. Put a miniature plant on top of the table, preferably one that has round, ornamental fruit growing on it. Add a few more items such as small, standing frames which encase butterfly specimens or leaf and flower types. Place a collection of vintage books on these tables and small bowls of potpourri. Now all you have to do is to wait for a warm night and a full moon. Then you'll really be able to enjoy your new chair, out on your porch. For a romantic get together at home, use it instead of a love seat. Group a few silk and satin pillows together, on the bench. Use a bright flower arrangement to fill up a large size vase that's just as high as your bench. Add a string of faux pearls which you can drape on the bench. Now, you'll just have to wait and find out who'll kiss you on this bench during the party. If all of your outdoor patio dining furniture pieces already have cushions, you can always add floor cushion pillows to add extra seating in your outdoor entertaining areas.
