An Effective Movie Download Service Is The Way To Go
Posted on Sunday, November 7, 2010 in Entertainment
Everyone loves watching movies and getting your movies through movie downloads makes this much more economical. Going out for a late night movie with your friends and family could be pretty expensive. Transportation, snacks and movie tickets cost you a lot just for a single movie. Instead of enjoying the movie, you worry about having to cut the grocery list just to keep up with your week's budget. The parents often want to watch one type of movie while the kids want to watch another, so do we they twice? This can turn out to be a very expensive exercise and that is not even taking into account the popcorn and other refreshments that go along with it. Kids are always asking to go to the movies but have you noticed that you rarely pay reduced prices for kid's tickets at movie theatres any more? So besides full priced tickets for your kids, you also need to pay for yourself to see the movie if the kids are not old enough to go on their own. You then stop at the refreshments stand for popcorn and drinks and by the time you get into the theatre you have spent a fortune and an hour and a half to two hours later it is over. Not very cost effective according to most standards. Couples with children wanting to go out on their own for a movie have to consider a number of things. The cost of a baby sitter and the nagging concern for the children left behind. This too makes for a not so great experience. The entire movie experience, which should have been fun and relaxing instead, turns into yet another stressful and costly night out. There is no limit on how many movies you want to download, from the classic to the hip. Everyone can choose their favorite movie and download them in their computer anytime. Movie downloads are also highly recommended for families with little kids. Children tend to watch their favorite cartoons over and over again memorizing their much loved character's dialogues and movements. Having their favorite cartoon movies downloaded will assure you that they will not keep on asking you to bring them back to the movie theatre for another round. Children and adults alike love watching their favorite films over and over. If you download a film online then you can choose to watch it as many times as you like or never again. Roger Corman’s Shame Can Be Seen As A Movie Download
Posted on Sunday, May 2, 2010 in Entertainment
Shame, a film by Roger Corman, is really a startling piece of cinema. Corman is well known as a schlock-meister. It was a strong business model, he would hand some young director a small budget and have them create a cheap, marketable B movie. This was how he paid the bills, but, beyond the B horror and exploitation movies, he was also a truly skilled filmmaker, and more than a few movies beyond on your queue the next time you sign into your movie download service. The film is shockingly courageous when you take the context into consideration. Shame is about racial relations and tensions in small southern towns. Now, when people were making movies like this in the eighties and nineties, decades after the success of the civil rights movement, that's one thing. Corman took a crew down to a real small southern town during the civil rights era and actually filmed on location, where he and his team were constantly subjected to harassment and threats from the local populace. The real star of the film is William Shatner as a villainous political agent. He's currently working for a segregationist running for office, and he moves into this town with one purpose in mind: Stir up racially motivated violence. It's a dark, disturbing character, and Shatner is incredible in the role. He usually plays the sort of roles that play off of his boyish charm and good looks, his uniquely friendly sense of machismo and his humor. To see this reversed in this early role is something like seeing Henry Fonda as the villain in Once Upon a Time in the West. The concept may have begun with Adolf Hitler. It seems odd that Corman would cast such a charismatic young man in such a seedy, nasty role as villain, but as Hitler made clear, you need charisma, you need charm, and you need a handsome face to sell ugly ideas. Shatner is just incredible in the film, and you can see exactly how he scams and cons the people of the small town to believe what they know in their hearts is not true. Corman and his crew were run out of town by the local police when it became clear what sort of a film they were creating, and that it could mean trouble for segregationists. The final shots were literally filmed "on the run". As in, Corman was filming at one end of the street while a virtual lynch mob was closing in from the opposite end of the street, so Corman had to grab the shots and flee. Corman is earning a lifetime achievement award at the Oscars in 2010, but there has been sadly little coverage of his life and times in cinema. For as much as he's contributed, Corman's Oscar is long overdue. Corman primarily made his name producing and directing schlocky monster movies, girly flicks and so on, but he also directed some real classics, and launched the careers of many cinematic legends, including Jack Nicholson, Martin Scorsese and Dennis Hopper. His studio taught many young actors, writers and directors the ropes, showing them how to produce a good movie on a limited budget and schedule, and he truly was one of the key figures in shaping the world of the modern American cinema. If you still haven't seen any of Corman's good movies, start with this one, then check out X: The Man With The X-Ray Eyes. Yes, he made a lot of cheap monster movies, he made the sort of sci-fi flicks where you could see the zippers on the alien's suit, but he also made some true classics both in the horror and sci-fi genres, and outside of his familiar territory, and Shame is an example of what gifts the man has when he can step away from the marketable genres and really put his heart and daring into a project. He is a new serial killer on the scene who murders prostitutes and dismembers their bodies after he drains it of blood. Mel Gibson In The Road Warrior
Posted on Sunday, April 25, 2010 in Entertainment
There's something to be said for action flicks, especially when they're as well crafted as The Road Warrior. This film was what really got Mel Gibson started on a global level. Mad Max saw him explode in the US, but since the film hadn't been released in the US yet, or throughout much of the rest of the world, it was The Road Warrior that made him a household name. It's definitely one of the must download movies of all time. There aren't many movies that work so well as action movies while being one of those films you might consider to be one of the greatest ever made. However, the film is just so incredibly strong on so many levels that you have to recognize how good it is as a film regardless of whether or not you're usually a big fan of action flicks. If you haven't seen it, and somehow have no idea what it's about: Mad Max Rockatansky is a former cop wandering a wasted outback in Australia. Food and water have become scarce after World War III, as has gasoline. Max is trying to find enough resources just to keep himself alive from day to day as he wanders across the wasteland. Throughout the previous film, Max lost touch with his humanity, becoming just as cruel and ruthless as the villains he pursued. This time, he needs to take a chance at redemption and at getting in touch with his humanity once more by getting involved once more with society, or what's left of it. The movie is really just one big chase scene, only stopping here and there just long enough to give the audience a moment to catch their breath. While a lesser movie might have been made boring by all this action, in The Road Warrior, the action and the story are one and the same. Character and plot are both developed through action, not like the modern action flick where the fights and chases only get in the way of the story. In the end the movie is really a statement on heroism, delving into Joseph Campbellian mythological structure and coming up with what many Australians consider to be "Star Wars Down Under". It's certainly one of the most successful films to ever come out of that country, and is still considered a national treasure of the Australian cinema all these decades later. The movie is, really, a classic western in a new setting. It belongs on the same shelf as Stagecoach as one of the all time great examples of how the classic John Ford and Howard Hawks westerns developed their own stories. The movie is loud, spectacular, full of crazy characters and stunts, and, perhaps, one of the ten greatest films ever made, depending on how you evaluate films on a personal level. At the very least, it is one of the most well crafted and well told action stories of all time, and certainly belongs on your download queue if you haven't seen it yet. His rage and disappointment at Frodos betrayal can only be assuaged by a total revenge. Citizen Kane Has Been Labeled As The Greatest Movie Of All Time
Posted on Thursday, April 15, 2010 in Entertainment
Citizen Kane is a film that was released in 1941. Described as an American drama, it was directed by Orson Welles, who also starred in it. Even today, moguls in the movie industry consider 'CK' to be one the greatest films of all time. It is particularly acclaimed for its narrative technique, music, and its inventive cinematography. Before the film was made, Welles was receiving accolades after his performances with the Mercury Players. He caught the attention of Hollywood moguls through his highly controversial radio program, War of the Worlds, in 1938. The next year he was signed on contract with RKO Pictures. Although he was completely 'untried' as a film director, he was given a free hand to develop a story, pick the crew and cast, and even given 'final cut' privilege. After two disastrous first attempts, Welles and Herman Mankiewicz wrote the screenplay for CK. Citizen Kane was filmed in 1940, and released the following year. It dominated the Academy Awards by being nominated in as many as 9 categories. To the delight of Mankiewicz and Welles, it scooped the Best Writing (Original Screenplay) award. The movie is a roman a clef. This means that it describes real people and real life behind the disguise of fiction. CK scrutinizes the life of Charles Kane based on publishing magnate, William Randolph Hearst. It also studies the life of Welles himself. Kane began his career in the publishing business because of a passion for the industry. However, over time, the passion became an obsessive desire for power. CK is narrated with flashbacks, and the story is exposed through a reporter attempting to solve the obscurity of Kane's single dying word, 'Rosebud'. Although the film enjoyed critical acclaim, it was a box office flop. It faded into insignificance until, some years later, it caught the attention of French critics. This led to renewed interest and, in 1956, the film enjoyed an amazing American revival. Once again, film critics unofficially agreed it was the greatest film of all time. For the next 50 years, CK remained on all the leading film polls. The cinematography was seen by film historians and scholars as Welles' way of creating a new method of film making. The most unique aspect of CK was the prolonged use of deep focusing. In almost every scene, the background, foreground, and all in between, are in focus. This was achieved by the cinematographer after experimenting with lights and lenses. Another notable element of the film was the way which low angle film shots were used. Ceilings are visibly seen in the background of numerous scenes. At that time, all movies were filmed on sound stages. It was not possible to show a ceiling because sound stages had no ceilings. So how was it done in CK? The Citizen Kane crew draped muslin above the set to give the illusion of a room with a ceiling. Microphones were concealed above the muslin. The crew even made trenches in the floor to facilitate low angle shots for the scene that shows Kane meeting up with Leland after the elections. The part of Charles Kane was played by Welles himself. The story takes place in an alternate 1985, where the Cold War is still going strong and Richard Nixon is still president. movie downloads for psp Hopefully in the next decade we will see some new approach, style and way to present horror movies.
