Posted on Friday, December 4, 2009 in Computers
A lot of Americans own computers. Of those that own computers, many of them own more than one and with good reason. Personal computer access can save you a lot of trouble when you need any amount of the incredible wealth of knowledge that the Internet and computer software makes available. It is almost becoming more popular to own a computer that can travel with you, and thus the popularity for laptops. If you or someone you know wants to get their feet wet with the portable aspect, you can start off with a cheap laptop and see how you like it. When you are looking into getting a laptop, there are many things that you need to consider and all of these will inevitably affect the final cost of the product. These things include: size of the laptop, the hard drive, and its memory. One of the first things you are likely to notice when you are shopping for laptops is the general size of a laptop that you would like to have. Getting a pretty decent idea of the size you would like is a very good place to begin. You see, the screens for these laptops can get as small as 8. 9" with clarity. The smaller the screen size, generally the cheaper the laptop; certainly there will be exceptions but these exceptions are generally conducive with higher amounts and capacities for the other two options. The hard drive is quite simply how much your laptop can store at any given time. Lower end storage capacity is about 4-8 GB, but laptops have as much as a Terabyte (1,000 Gigabytes) of storage space. Granted, you can expect to pay a pretty penny for the convenience of having this much storage. As far as a cheap laptop, you should be looking more towards 8GB, and less towards the TB. Memory is a crucial component of any computer, desktop or laptop. The memory indicates exactly what the computer can handle doing simultaneously at any given moment. The more memory, the more the computer is able to handle in terms of a workload. Low-end laptops are about 512MB - 1GB. Getting a cheap laptop can be done as easily as searching for a good deal on Ebay. Other places that are safe to begin looking for great laptops that you can actually afford are www.newegg.com, www.buy.com, and there are always great deals to be found on Amazon. If you know what you are looking for, getting a great laptop at an incredibly low price is not something of fantasy. You have to remember, the more you want the laptop to handle and do, the more it will inevitably cost. Matthew Kerridge is an expert in laptop products.
